Wylie Hall son makes it three out of four
Cheveley Stud’s promising young stallion Wylie Hall looks to have come up with a really smart sort in the form of De La Cruz.
The latter, a member of his sire’s very exciting first crop, made it win number three from just four starts when he accounted for a classy looking field when victorious in a juvenile plate over 1000m at the Vaal on Thursday.
Trained by Ashley Fortune, the two-year-old gelding stayed on nicely to collect his third career win when scoring a three-parts of a length win at the expense of G1 contender Guantanamo Bay, with the previously unbeaten Dublin Quays finishing third.
Bred by Mayesh Chetty, De La Cruz was produced by the Captain Al mare Greendale and he looks a really talented sort in the making.
Excitingly, De La Cruz’s full-brother is catalogued as Lot 143 for the upcoming National 2YO Sale!
De La Cruz is one of 10 runners from Wylie Hall’s first crop to have either won or finished in the money, with others including the Hong Kong bound G3 Protea Stakes winner Twilight Moon.
A multiple G1 winning son of multiple champion sire Redoute’s Choice, and from the family of this season’s G1 winners Yourdeel and Melody Belle, Wylie Hall has five lots on offer at the 2019 National 2YO Sale, including a filly (Lot 106) out of a daughter of G1 winner Duchess Daba, a half-brother (Lot 169) to G2 Selangor Cup winner Mercury Chief, and a filly (Lot 327) out of G1 performer Sapsan –a half-sister to G2 winner Rocket Countdown.
