Wylie Hall relatives up for NZ awards

Cheveley Stud’s Wylie Hall hails from a truly outstanding family, and this family looks on course for more success, with Wylie Hall relatives Melody Belle and Yourdeel both nominated for the 2019 New Zealand Thoroughbred Horse Of The Year awards.

Brilliant four-year-old Melody Belle has been nominated for both the award of Champion Sprinter-Miler and Champion Middle Distance Horse, while Yourdeel (recently sold to further his career in Hong Kong) is one of four nominees for the award of New Zealand’s Champion Two-Year-Old for 2018-2019.

Melody Belle, who, like Wylie Hall, is descended from the Summertime mare Belle Time, has won 11 of her 20 outings and has earned over $1.5 million in stakes. The daughter of Commands has no fewer than six G1 victories to her name, with her major wins this season including the Bonecrusher New Zealand Stakes, Haunui Farm WFA Group One Classic, BCD Group Sprint, Tarzino Trophy and Windsor Park Plate.

Yourdeel, also descended in female line from Belle Time, has won four of his six starts including the G1 Sistema Stakes and G1 Manawatu Sires’ Produce Stakes.

All finalists are eligible for the Horse of the Year title, which will be announced at a gala dinner in Auckland, at the Ellerslie Racecourse, on Sunday, September 8.

Multiple G1 winner Wylie Hall, a son of legendary Australian sire Redoute’s Choice, has made a fine start with his first 2yos this season including exported G3 Protea Stakes winner Twilight Moon and the promising De La Cruz (a winner of three of his first four starts).

Wylie Hall has five lots on offer at the 2019 National 2YO Sale.
