Third Windsor Park Plate success for Wylie Hall relative
After some deliberation it was last year’s Hawke’s Bay triple crown winner Melody Belle who got in the deciding stride for rider Troy Harris as she captured the eleventh Group One title of her illustrious career.
The champion was winning the Windsor Park Plate for a third year in a row, with Melody Belle having also triumphed in 2018 and 2019.
Melody Belle, who has now won 16 of her 33 starts for earnings of over $3.67 million, is likely to have her next outing in October 17th’s G1 Livamol Classic at Hastings.
A daughter of Commands and Broodmare Of The Year Meleka Belle, Melody Belle’s fifth dam Belle Time ranks as the ancestress of a number of outstanding gallopers among them Absolute Champion, Dance Hero, Grand Armee, and G1 SA Derby/G1 President’s Champions Challenge winner Wylie Hall.
The latter, sired, like Melody Belle, by a son of Danehill, has 15 lots on this year’s Emperors Palace National 2YO Sale, including a filly (Lot 224) out of Broodmare Of The Year Mystic Spring
