Wylie Hall will be featured alongside Jackson on this Sunday’s Breeding To Win – Tellytrack, 8pm, channel 239
Earlier this week, Sarah Whitelaw and Troy Finch attended the stallion day at Lammerskraal. As a neighbouring farm to Cheveley, Lammerskraal invited Wylie Hall to participate. Sarah Whitelaw reports on Wylie Hall below alongside photographs by Troy Finch.
The first foals of Cheveley Stud’s well performed and blue blooded young sire Wylie Hall have already made a cracking impression on the breeders lucky enough to have them.
Lammerskraal’s outstanding crop of foals this year include the striking filly pictured alongside out of the Western Winter mare Savannah Air.
The latter is out of the Gr3 Elliodor mare Burnt Savannah –a full sister to Gr3 Summerveld Stakes winner Ivor Thirst and a half sister to Gr2 November Handicap winner Likeithot (by Rakeen).
Cheveley’s Wylie Hall foals include the attractive colt (pictured below) out of the winning Rambo Dancer mare Ballerina, whose four winning offspring include five time winner and Listed Southeaster Sprint third Monsieur Dupont. From the great Sister Sublime family, Ballerina herself is a half sister to former Listed Gosforth Park 4-Y-O C&G Stakes winner Choreographer.
The beautifully bred Fort Wood mare Kimberley Club has a very appealing Wylie Hall filly foal at foot (pictured above).
Kimberley Club herself is not only a daughter of a Champion Sire and last season’s Champion Broodmare Sire but is out of Elliodor’s five time stakes winning daughter Oceana – a half sister to former Equus Champion 2yo and dual Gr1 winner Argonaut as well as former Gr1 SA Fillies Guineas winner Finest View (Fine Edge).
Cheveley also have a fine looking filly out of the Argonaut mare Dien Te Garde. This filly is a wonderful example of the quality that Wylie Hallis throwing – and, remarkably, is the first foal of the mare herself.
Wylie Hall, whose six career wins included both the Gr1 President’s Champions Challenge and the classic Gr1 SA Derby, is a son of triple Australian Champion Sire Redoute’s Choice, sire of no fewer than 28 Gr1 winners, and counting!
Redoute’s Choice has established himself as an outstanding sire of sires, with his top class sire sons including Snitzel (one of Australia’s leading sires), Not A Single Doubt (the leading active sire in Australia last season), and proven Gr1 producer Stratum.
One of the top performers of his generation, Wylie Hall (who also finished first past the post in the 2014 Gr1 Vodacom Durban July) won or placed in no fewer than ten feature races and earned over R3 million in prize money. Among the numerous top class performers beaten by Wylie Hall are the following champions/Gr1 winners – Majmu (by Redoute’s Choice), Futura, In The Fast Lane, Capetown Noir, Captain America, Heavy Metal, King Of Pain, Cherry On The Top, Louis The King, The Hangman, Wild One and Yorker.
Wylie Hall will once again stand for a fee of R20,000 this season – and, if the quality of his first foals are anything to go by, this looks to be a great bargain!
