Cheveley Stud Offer Four Top Sorts at KZN Sale
Vaughan Koster’s Cheveley Stud, perennially among the leading breeders in South Africa, will be offering four very classy yearlings at this year’s KZN Yearling Sale.
Cheveley’s draft consists of yearlings by all of Futura, Var and Visionaire, with the quartet hailing from outstanding female lines to boot.
Visionaire, whose progeny include the likes of Takingthepeace, Africa Rising and Heaps Of Fun, is responsible for a half-sister (Lot 10) to two smart winners, and this filly is out of a dual winning daughter of Fort Wood –who is a three-parts sister to four time G1 winner and Horse Of The Year Futura.
The latter, who has members of his first crop make up to R1 200 000 this year, is sire of two yearlings in this draft. Futura’s daughter (Lot 107) out of Gal Mufti is a half-sister to the stakes placed Uptown Gal, and Gal Mufti herself is a half-sister to speedy Umngeni Handicap winner Red Flyer and the recent Gatecrasher Stakes victor Kaydens Pride.
The Dynasty sired Futura is also represented here by a colt (Lot 225) out of the Captain Al sired KRA Fillies Guineas runner up Reason To Believe, with the latter hailing from the same family as Horse Of The Year and five time G1 winner Flaming Rock.
Pick of this draft, however, could be the colt (Lot 172) by red hot sire Var –with the latter responsible for recent G1 Gold Medallion winner Eden Roc among many others!
The colt on offer is a half-brother to exported G1 Allan Robertson Championship winner Brave Mary (who like the colt on sale was sired by a Storm Cat line horse). This colt is out of a stakes winning Rich Man’s Gold half-sister to G1 Champions Cup winner African Appeal and also numbers G1 winner Takingthepeace as a close relative.
